The Sustainable Business Model

One of the primary measures of a company's success is its profit. At Gordian Business, we have identified the profit drivers, and our Sustainable Business Model below summarises these. To maximise and sustain profit, each element of the Sustainable Business Model must be an area of strength.

Every company operates in a framework of both internal and external influences. Each of these influences impacts the structure and organisation of the company, and they need to be considered when building a company's strategy.

Creating and maintaining quality business practices are the first step towards creating a compelling and profitable workplace, which in turn creates products and services that are valued highly by the market. These practices include strategy, structure, distinctive capabilities and a strong senior team.

The second step is to create a compelling place to work, which in turn creates energy, excitement, and thankfully profits. To achieve this, it is important to develop a shared purpose between staff and management, retain key staff and ensure that employees show a positive and realistic attitude towards their job, their clients, and the company as a whole. It is important to remember that the profit chain begins with the employee.

Profit essentially comes from the consumer, therefore to increase profits, it is important to give the customer reasons to do business with you in order to increase profits. Elements of a compelling place to buy are superior client satisfaction, quality products and exceptional service. It is critical to realise the importance of the customer, and make sure resources are allocated to maximise the potential of customer service.

The strength of this chain of internal influences has an impact on the company's profit. Each link in the chain must be addressed and strengthened in order to have the most positive impact on bottom line figures. The maintenance of these areas will ensure that increased profits are not only achieved, but the potential to be not only sustained but improved in the long term.
